  • Peepoople. Are planning a detailed survey in June in Silanga, looking at all aspects of sanitation at a household level. Coordination with Map Kibera data collection, and incorporation of geographic methods to be explored. World Water Week in August is an opportunity to present Map Kibera as "creating a meeting space between the people living in the slum and the international organisations"
  • OVE Denmark, KOEE are looking to isntall biogas facilities in schools (Raila, Olympic, Toi, Mashimoni).They have come up with a schema. We have opened the possibility of collaborating on the baseline survey, as it is due to fall at the same time as Map Kibera does it's Kibera wide mapping of sanitation. Also possible that OSM could house future comparison surveys of facilities.
  • Peter from Umande Trust. Has located all toilets.
  • Maji Bora (Quality Water). Network of CBO water vendors. Connected to Nairobi Water & Sanitation.
  • Carolina for Kibera runs the Taka ni Pato clean up program (Cash for Trash)
  • Fednance Marimba had done research on water and sanitation infrastructure in Kibera
  • Fred Owegi, Kenyan Phd student, studying in Wagenigen, The Netherlands. His research is on the Economics of Sanitation in Kibera, collaborating with Kibera Community Youth Programme (KCYP). Basically exploring the econometric relationships between rents paid by Kibera's tenants and the variety of structures including their sanitation attributes, e.g. proximity to toilets and other infrastructure services. Working in Kianda, maybe also Silanga?
  • George Onyiro is the UN Habitat Technical Advisor & Habitat Programme Manager - Kenya, Water Sanitation and Infrastructure Branch
  • Mark de Blois of Upande has done technical work on water networks in Nairobi
  • SODNET has looked at water issues as well.
