One person will make a list(everyone will go home and identify these places. We can use this list for the training i.e go map and then do the editing before Mathare)Regynnah to have List by Friday then training can take place next week.

2. Naming the roads-(Hassan takes the responsibility of brainstorming on questions like why we think naming is important, how we shall involve the community, who,etc Make a write-up for something like five minutes then present it to the meeting on Wednesday)

Primoz:got an idea from a resident about not naming after individuals

Hassan: But when we find a street that is already named we shouldnt change the name

Millicent: We shall consult the community and ask what they think we should name these streets.

Douglas: We can start at the far east where political temperatures are very low then when it succeeds we can move on.

Primoz: There is the need to the government to introduce the concept

Mappers to snoop and see which area we can begin.

Steps;

- To find a small community that is prepared

-Get prepared with information and the reasons why we want to do that

-Rise publicity

-Jane to do research on the Procedures followed to change the name of a street and also list of government people involved

3. Atlas printing-Brainstorming on the strategy of distribution, how are we going to present our work, how we shall involve the community, etc-To be done by all the members

-Atlas can be a good entry point for naming.

-We need to have a story behind it, whats on it, sign guest book, etc.We need to present it.

-It will get ourselves known.

-it shows that you did this for the community

Who we shall give the map to?Have a list of who to give(Schools-for learning purposeOffice of prime Minister to get a copy,NGOs,provincial administrative offices, etc, UN-HABITAT, Kensup, Ministry of lands)

-Doing a big launch and inviting the media,

-then we can ask the people present to donate whatever amount of money they (can?)

-What shall we need for the launch?T-shirts, flyers, posters

List of people we know:

Hassan knows Edward Keta P.A to PM

Mildred: Councillor Catherine

Douglas: Leah muraguri –KENSAP head

Doug Ragan to see if he can link us through UN-HABITAT

Mildred:catherine nyamala-STEM Africa.

Planning / organizing launch: Jane, Primoz, Douglas, mildred, Maureen, Regynnah

4. Publicity-All members should brainstorm on ways in which our work will be known.Examples of activities we can think of include renting a wall and painting a map on it then many people can see the map, making banners, bronchures, etc

-Not everybody will have the map, so the painting will be a good idea and it will be seen by very many people.it cannot be stolen like other media.Any idea os a wall-major walls like in main entries of kibera(Highrise, langata, olympic, D.Cs place, Ngumo, the Moi girls’ wall, etc), schools e.g identifying a school in a village and putting the map of that village.

Changing maps-replacing with more recent maps so the community can know how much change has taken place in their region.

Responsibility: All the mappers will go to the villages and identify these walls

5. Trust Organizational structure-Brainstorming on who will do what-Douglas

In order for everything we have discussed to secceed we need to know who is responsible for what.

-.Strategic mission and vission of mappers

-Activities

-Projects,

-internal structures,

-Budgets

Procedures for recruintment and membership.

-More members are needed for the four villages that are missing mappers

-We need to develop creteria for recruitment- so that there will not be times when people will miss to map or do some work.

AGM

For the members who are not completely involved, there is nothing in the document that shows how these people will benefit when they attend the AGM

Positions

-Will need people with different roles but we need to think about the needs

· Team leader

· Finance

· Documentation

· Communication

-The positions will not be appointed so suggestion is that everyone is involved in election.

Everybody will write down what they think are their roles and responsibilities in the grp(internal structure)-then bring them to the meeting. We shall determine then our structure)

-Rules and regulations need to be developed-Milly and Mildred to come up with them and they will be discussed and refined in the coming meeting.

Mathare

1. Training-Primoz will forward the plan to every member. The plan is that there will be trainings two days a week.
2. Everybody needs to be involved.Tasks will be distributed to every mapper so that everyone participates and also Kibera so that Kibera does not remain without work.Zack will do research on questions like what do you need as a mapper?(Time, driving to mathare, cables, batteries, etc)

Transport, compensation for work(includes lunch),GPS units(batteries, usb cables, memory cards, chargers, settings,Computers and internet, software(GPS barbel, jave open street map),internet, writing materials, procedure for training,

3. Mappers can have atleast two meetings before mathare so that they get trained on how they will train in Mathare.millicent and Mildred
