The idea of Louis-Ulysse Chopard to create pocket Orologi Imitazioni and chronometers of stature turned out to be very successful and since its foundation in 1860 the company never stopped amazing with its masterpieces. Louis-Ulysse Chopard was only 24 when he founded his company.
The Chopard brand is one of the few that designs its own Orologi Imitazione movements. These watch movements are named L.U.C. These initials stand for Louis-Ulysse Chopard. Some of the most unique watches created by Chopard can be found in Diamond and Happy Sport watch lines. Each line has its signature floating diamonds on the dial.
After about a century in the Rolex Imitazioni making business the company was bought by Karl Scheufele in 1963. Karl Scheufele, being a jeweler at that time, proposed the idea to combine watch making and jewelry in one brand. His aim was to create a company that he could lead to higher levels of accomplishment what concerns design and technology.
A new page for the famous brand was created when Karl Scheufele constructed in Meyrin-Geneva a production facility. 1976 was the year when Chopard unveiled the Happy Diamonds collection which is very famous nowadays. Later in 1980s a collection of Gstaad timepieces was launched. Mille Miglia Rolex Imitazione was a result of tight collaboration of Chopard and its official partner Mille Miglia. Their creation is considered to be an icon of vintage automobile racing. Starting with the 10th decade of the 20th century the off springs of Karl and Karin Scheufele were involved in their family business. Their daughter, Caroline dealt with jewelry design and her brother Karl-Friedrich began managing the watch division.
