    • Quick overview** of how we're structuring our activities in Map Kibera. We are focusing on four themes ... Health, Security, Education, and WatSan.

With each, we start by reaching out to a small stakeholder group who can inform the rest of the activities, particularly to help produce a complete picture of the network of actors around the theme, and to come up with a list of features and schema that mappers will be collecting. For instance, in health, we collected health facilities, details on their staff, what services they offered, referrals, etc, as well as the important point of their geographic location. Once this map data is collected by the mappers and uploaded to OpenStreetMap, it's compiled into a printed map form.

Those printed maps are used in a series of community meetings, with network members and members of the community, to review the mapping work being done, explore the map through map drawing sessions, and discuss the use of the map in their projects. That includes introduction to the Ushahidi instance, Voice of Kibera, and exploration of possible SMS and web applications. All of these sessions are thoroughly documented in video/audio/pictures/text, and compiled into a number of interactive maps and presentations on the website (still under development, let's say still gestating ... http://mapkibera.org/health/)

Individuals and groups who are especially interested to keep involved in these technologies will be brought into a smaller community of practice to guide the work in the future. Also, soon a large scale print of all four themes will be ordered, and distributed widely throughout Kibera. Everything described here will be presented to policy makers and government officials, closing the loop between community generated information sources. These meetings will trod a path that all actors will more easily navigate in the future, through communication technologies.
